About the Journal

African Biodiversity & Conservation is published by the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI). The journal aims to disseminate, to a wide audience, knowledge, information and innovative approaches that promote and enhance the wise use and management of biodiversity in order to sustain the systems and species that support and benefit the people of Africa.

The journal publishes original research findings, as well as reviews, commentaries, strategies and short notes. Special focus issues emanating from symposia or conferences that fall within the scope of the journal may also be published.

This is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. African Biodiversity & Conservation is included in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). 

There are currently no page processing charges for authors.

The journal publishes at least one issue each year. Articles are published online when ready for publication and then printed in an end-of-year compilation. Additional issues may be published for conference proceedings or symposia or for special themes.
