The appointment of the AIWN Convenor, Ms Victoria Tauli-Corpuz, as the new Special Rapporteur on the rights of indigenous peoples is highlighted.

An inspiring story of an indigenous woman whose determination to change the course of her life and that of her indigenous community is featured in this issue. How indigenous women are impacted by the recent earthquakes in Nepal is also presented. Results of the UNFGE project implemented since 2013 to June 2015 is highlighted. The conclusions and recommendations from the thematic report on the situation of indigenous women and girls by the UNSRRIP Victoria Tauli-Corpuz is also included.
