About this book

This book focuses on cultural tourism as it develops into the second decade of the new millennium. It presents recent hospitality and tourism research findings from various sources, including academic researchers and scholars, industry professionals, government and quasi-government officials, and other key industry practitioners. It discusses the latest tourism industry trends and identifies gaps in the research from a pragmatic and applied perspective. It includes specific chapters on innovation in tourism, the virtual visitor, cross-cultural visions of digital collections, heritage and museum management in the digital era, cultural and digital tourism policy, marketing and governance, social media, emerging technologies and e-tourism and many other topics of contemporary significance in global hospitality and tourism. The book is edited in collaboration with the International Association of Cultural and Digital Tourism (IACuDiT) and includes the proceedings of the Second International Conference on Cultural and Digital Tourism.

About the editors

Dr. Vicky Katsoni is an Associate Professor at the Tourism Department of the Technological Educational Institute(TEI) of Athens (Greece). She is also teaching at the Greek Open University at the MSc program of Tourism Management. She holds a PhD in Tourism Marketing Management and ICT Applications in Tourism, an MBA and a BA (Hons) in Economics. Having worked for over twenty years as an academic in the tertiary education, Dr. Katsoni is well-versed in academic multi-disciplinary research and has participated in several European and National research projects. Her research interests include tourism marketing, digital tourism, ICTs and tourist development, special forms of tourism and consumer behavior. She has published 9 books on tourism, chapters in edited volumes, and numerous papers in peer-reviewed academic journals. She is president of the nonprofit "International Association of Cultural and Digital Tourism" and member of the editorial board of many scientific journals in tourism and marketing.

Dr. Anastasia Stratigea is an Associate Professor at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Department of Geography and Regional Planning. She is also teaching at the MSc Program of “Environment and Development”, NTUA, Athens. She has a Diploma in Rural and Surveying Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a PhD from National Technical University of Athens, Greece. Her PhD has focused ICTs and Regional Development. She has participated in a number of EU and National Projects relating to planning and policy in the energy, tourism, agricultural and transport sectors. She has published her work in a number of international conferences and journals. She is reviewer in a number of International Journals. She is member of a variety of scientific networks (NECTAR, COST A22, EFONET, SMARTMED etc.). Her research interests are focusing on Sustainable Development, Spatial Planning, Urban and Regional Planning, Regional Development and Policy,Tourism and Regional Development,, Sustainable Tourism, Tourism Planning, Smart Tourism, and the Management of Cultural and Natural Resources.
