Abstract

Welcome to DATE-2009, the 12th anniversary of the Design, Automation and Test in Europe Conference. DATE is a world-leading event on electronic systems design and industrial applications. This year's event is marked by an exciting development which is DATE and ARTEMISIA Association for R&D actors in Advanced Research and Technology of EMbedded Intelligence and Systems have joined forces to stage joint event in Nice. ARTEMISIA is the main industry-research association in Europe focusing on embedded systems and has more than 150 members including key European companies such as Airbus, Thales, Daimler, Finmeccanica, Philips, Siemens, STMicroelectronics, NXP, Infineon and many others. Artemisia, together with the European Commission and EU Member States have formed the ARTEMIS joint undertaking, a multi-billion public-private partnership for collaborative research and development in embedded systems. We are confident all stakeholders in our industry including research, design and management will benefit from the great networking opportunities offered by the co-location of DATE and ARTEMISA.

With the help of more than 400 members of the technical programme committee, who dedicated their time to review the record number of 965 submissions, DATE has prepared an exciting technical programme. This year the most popular topics are Network on Chip, Design of Low Power Systems, Secure Embedded Implementations, Application of Reconfigurable Systems, On-Line Testing and Fault Tolerance, and Real-Time, Networked and Dependable Systems. Particularly relevant, this year DATE has received a record number of submissions in the Industrial Application Track, increasing by 30% on last year, confirming DATE is the world leading conference on system design and industrial applications from hardware to software.
